Chapter 8: Cellular Energy

Key Concept:
Cellular energy is an encompassing concept in all of science. As autotrophs capture the suns energy through the process of photosynthesis, carbon (from CO2) and water are converted into a usable form of energy known as a sugar. Then plants and heterotrophs must break down the sugars to release energy trapped in the bonds of the macromolecule. This energy is released through a process known as cellular respiration.
